Hi Jim An interesting post. You are obviously doing a great job helping her with the IBS which suggests that she is responsive to hypnosis. Two possible scenarios sprang to mind when I read this. 1. When we relax, stray thoughts enter the mind. These can be associations to stimuli that our brain is registering. You may be saying something to her that she unconsciously associates with something she has heard, seen or read. It could be something as innocent as an excerpt she has read from a book or seen on TV or at the cinema. 2. The other possibility is that her flashbacks relate in some way to a previous experience which could be remotely connected to her IBS. If you think this is likely then your best option would be to regress her to find the cause. Personally I would first of all find out more about her hobbies and interests as this could offer a valuable clue. You could also use the link and connect method where you mention a word and touch (with their permission) your clients forehead and ask them to link and connect that word with an event from their past. I think this approach is best suited for therapists who are fully confident that they will reach a solution. Hope this helps. Please let me know how you progress.

I agree with faith here both in the fact that you are obviously having success with stimulating your client in the IBS treatment and also that the cause of the flashbacks can be many and vairied. Does your client use the CD after watching soemthing on TV which they like such as Criminal Minds or the like which due to graphical images can linger in the mind after they are finished and re-appear as we relax? These seem related to some dark incident either from an interaction with media - films, TV, gaming etc. or it may be worth trying PLR as this may well assist in clearing a deeply submerged "memory event" and which could allow for the catharsis needed by your client to let go. It is obviously another stressor and will not help in the overall success of the therapy and you are doing exactly the right thing in identifying and dealing with this. I hope this helps you - please let me know how it proceeds and I wish you and your client a very successful outcome to the therapy.
