Induce analgesia on the back of the hand and transfer it to where it is needed. This is taught in the basic training course, or was in my day. what do they teach now?

Hi Emma, there is a script for fear of injections on Hypnotic World which you might find useful.

The forum on Hypnotic World is for people to learn from and help each other. They really dont need to read your derogatory and self superior comments. You are the only one who shows yourself up in a bad light.

Faith, interesting that you should feel my post to be derogatory, while you promote the use of scripts without any knowledge of therapy. I wonder why that is? This is not the first time you have suggested that I was rude because I chose to speak truthfully. The poster asked a question, and if my reply was too difficult for her to understand perhaps the problem is also too difficult for her since my statement was absolutely true, or do you dare to deny that? Perhaps you would care to tell us how I showed "superiority" in pointing to a method which is in fact as I stated taught early on in basic training courses? If your choice of reply is based on the profit motive, feel free to say so, and if not kindly show me what you object to. Certainly your replies are limited to offering scripts, while I teach the poster something they may know nothing about. If that is how you run hypnosis in England, thank god I learned in Canada over forty years ago and learned well.... I note that you have very little traffic here, perhaps there is a reason why most posters go the Hypnosis.com where are are real practitioners answering the posts. Lets face it, you are here for profit so this forum is not really a forum but a business in disguise, and I always suspect anything that needs to be disguised so let us see if this post is left or removed shall we? If it is removed, then indeed I have pulled back the curtain and revealed that which it was hiding, and will feel no need to post here again but rather leave it to the inept and the ignorant to pretend....YES I am your superior, I have what you seem to lack, ETHICS. That is not something you learn, it is bred in you...

Anthony, thanks for your post and apologies if mine was a bit OTT, however we have received a number of emails from members and visitors who have been offended by some of your responses. (latest example quote: . . . His comments are often highly critical, abrupt, arrogant and although I dont doubt he has experience and respect his right to reply - I feel his comments are often aggressive and unhelpful for the people wanting responses). Whilst we appreciate the constructive feedback that you have offered on this forum I would ask that you use your inbred ethics to show some respect to people who are new to hypnotherapy or simply want another perspective on an approach without being made to feel inferior. FYI the forum is not run for profit, rather for us all to learn from each other.

Wow, Anthony! Gosh, thats quite an opinion you have there with a background Im not sure I would care to understand. I am a fully qualified and registered Hypnotherapist. My course was outstanding but Analgesia was only touched upon, certainly a topic for extra study in CPD. I have found this website to be insightful and of great use to me in my practice. Im not one for forums but felt the need to post so you could see other peoples perspectives.

To the above poster, I am sure the intent on your part was to put me down. Sadly, all you have done is show your own ignorance while claiming to be "quatified" and "registered". Those words mean nothing without knowledge of the sort of training you have been given, and the requirements for registration. Your post indicates a very poor quality of training and skill. Here in Calgary, the average practitioner has a degree in Phycology before taking training in Hypnosis. As members of HSA, they give frequent lectures to other members, which helps all learn more, and keeps each on their toes and growing constantly. You it seems have only the internet, and are in need of help with simple scripts, an insult to the profession of Hypnosis when such is requested by a so called trained and registered practitioner... I am happy to eat my words if such can be shown as being too harsh or unfair. Perhaps just reading a book is sufficient in the UK, I have no idea so perhaps someone qualified would bring my up to speed?

Anthony, I did not wish to put you down in the slightest. Not my intention, as I would hope it is not your intention to cast aspersions on me. My post indicates nothing as to the quality of my training, it denotes that Analgesia wasnt covered in full as a topic. Others were and to an extremely high standard. Here in England we too have lectures and CPD to improve our knowledge and keep the standards to a very high calibre for those practising or wishing to practice. You can find further details at www.hypnotherapists.org.uk, please feel free to get in touch with them for further details. As I am sure you are aware, people get into professions from all walks of life, experience and background, I too have a background in psychology and my Hypnotherapy course was created by a chartered psychologist. I have full membership opportunities to all the psychology membership bodies on my Hypnotherapy course alone. I do not rely on the internet to plan my sessions, I am accomplished at writing my own scripts but it is always helpful to understand and take note of what others in the field are doing. Hence, I find this website useful - That is the only thing I wished to portray in my last post, I am not into personal attacks and refrain from doing so generally, I would not wish to start on an internet forum. I wish you well in life and in your practice Anthony.

A very interesting discussion. I hope that all interested parties have achieved the goals they set when replying to each other. I believe the "Anthony" gentlemans responses to be a genuine concern for the purity of his chosen profession and how amateurs are muddying up the professional waters. He seems to want to shame those doing so into fessin up and flying right. Fair enough. All you posers, you have been warned. Go do some reading and more study and next time you post a question, have the courtesy to know the answer first.

I think that most people come on here to share knowledge and to find out information. This, I would have thought to be a good thing, as no one person knows everything (or so I thought, but it seems Anthony does). IMHO it is self righteous prigs like him who spoil what is essentially a meeting place for like minded people to get that little bit of extra knowledge that they have either forgotten or not been trained to do in the first place, after all life is just a huge training ground, and we are all learning all the time. Sorry if I appear to be ranting, but as a new member here I too am seeking to further my knowledge and prats like Anthony just serve to stop people asking questions. I always thought that there were no stupid questions. And that it is more stupid to sit in ignorance. Sorry rant for the first post is over.

I believe the best therapists are those that get themselves out of the way" having sufficient training and knowledge is certainly important, but being able to facilitate a session that enables a client take on board the suggestions made without throwing your opinions and life experiences into the mix is of equal importance. Forums are useful arenas to enable those who are on a learning curve to ask for expert support. I fully agree that there are some unethical hypnotherapists out there and I would be surprised if it is only in the UK. Genuine therapists should pursue continuous reading and education, however our general community should be one that supports and welcomes questions from fledgling therapists. Surely its the practised experts that can offer guidance and advice that will one day sift out the unprofessional elements in our industry.
