In Psychology Today. There is a quote by Michael Yapko: "Depression is contagious, spread primarily by social interaction in the family and other intimate relationships. And the most effective prescription my be to bolster social skills." This is a theory similar to one I have been developing. I was wondering what the group members think about what Michael Yapko says about depression. I believe that hes definately taking depression away from the medical model and I find it quite interesting as a theory. Sincerely, Dr. Alan Eastman http://www.TrafalgarDistance.com

Hi Alan I havent read Michaels theory yet but it sounds very plausable. If you think about it, being around negative people for long enough can make one feel down so Im sure the same goes for depression - after all, most of us like to mingle with social company as we respond more positively to them.
