Hi, Im a practising therapist but am unable to visualize when I am hypnotised. I have a vivd imagination, have written numerous short stories and a full length novel but I rarely see anything. In July I had an hour long session when I had a hypnotic gastric band done but all I can remember is the stairs at the beginning. Why? I have clients that see loads and really are full of it when I bring them back. I feel so envious!

Hi Stephen Thanks for your post. Visualization is something that comes naturally to most children, however for various reasons they can lose this skill as they grow up. Often we are told to stop daydreaming or are made to feel that we have to concentrate on more important matters. We have a script and MP3/CD recording on Hypnotic World called Unlocking a Visualization Ability and have received some amazing feedback on this. It could be worth giving it a try. Another thing to take into consideration is that since you only remembered the beginning of your gastric band hypnosis session then perhaps you went very deep into hypnosis and your conscious thinking mind didnt remember visualizing anything when you came round. Its a bit like a dream - sometimes you remember them vividly and then in a space of a second your dream can be lost. That doesnt mean that you didnt visualize anything - only that you cant remember visualizing it. Hope this makes sense.

Hello. It might just be that you are not a visual person. Some people do see pictures, but others feel sensations or "just know". I only get flashes of pictures, but am able to still visulaise myself in a garden, for example, albeit that I only see the flowers now and again. I mostly feel the grass beneath my feet and feel the sun on my skin. etc etc. I can still get into a trance that way.
