I am curently using the virtual gastric band programme with 2 clients. This is the first time I have fitted the band. Both clients have now had 2 sessons and are progressing well. However, one mentioned that when she has had operations in the past she has resisted anasethic and has gone into shock when coming round afterwards. She is still keen to have the band fitted. How can I adapt the script to ensure these problems don't occur. I was going to use hospital sounds in the background - is this a good idea with this client?

Hello Caroline, This situation is a bit awkward. I can understand your concern about not triggering a trance induced shock reaction. Just a suggestion here. Maybe you can do a couple of sessions before the band is fitted where you program her subconscious mind for an easy surgery and excellent anesthetic recovery. You could use the pre and post operative scripts from Hypnotic World. Emphasis should be placed on awakening easily from the anesthetic. All the best, Sheila

Pauline as you say youd had a course how many other sessions had you had? When you just listened to the procedure did the hypnotherapist just put a tape on and leave the room? You are quite correct at £490 that is a lot of money and no out come. Do you have any other follow up sessions planned?

I tend to shy away from Gastric Band for this reason, I think there is still a lot of controvesy over this procedure and a lot of price hiking. I still feel that several sessions working on different aspects of dieting and eating, promoting healthy eating and awareness through hypnosis are a better option, at the same time a session on confidence to eat the right foods and to have regular exercise. A complete 6 course package as opposed to a one off pay me a lot of money and goodbye. now I'm not saying everyone who does gastric band surgery is like this so calm down lol, but I bet you have all come across this at some point.

I'm not doing the gastric band package but I am currently working with a client on weight loss. We have covered the basic history and I have scripts ready which I know will be perfect. I was just wondering though, as I am still quite new to this, how long do you think is best between sessions? I'm thinking a week doesn't seem long enough now so was thinking fortnightly might be the way to go to give the suggestions time to start working.???

Hi Rachel, I find that generally speaking every 2-3 weeks is a pretty good fit for most people unless you are working with someone who is very anxious/acute, then you may need to provide support weekly to begin. Cheers, Ned

I had an offer on groupon and got a lot of replies from that. I found no problems with the 5 session plan I used that weekly was fine. Depending on how you are working your sessions I liked weekly as it let me keep an eye on how things were going. The first 4 weeks were about the client getting the ontrol back into what they ate and choosing the right foods. As it was weekly sessions of someone had a bad day for whatever reason and jumped back into old habits then the next session wasnt to far away to help them work through it and get them back on track.

Hi could anyone advise me please? The gastric band programmes i am currently offering are a four week programme. The first session i prepare the client for weightloss second session i fit the band, third session i reinforce what we have done and the final session i adjust the band. I also give all clients a free consultation so i can gather as much information as possible. Up to now i have done the programmes twice, both clients was enthusiastic the first client i feel was not taking the programme seriously as she told me after the therapy had been completed she did not believe it had been fitted it was imaginary I really dont know why she went through with it if she felt this all along. My second client really wanted to lose the weight but under his own admission was a lazy overeater, so he was not prepared to put in the effort, even though i explained in his consultation hypnotherapy is not a majic wand and that he would need to exercise and change his lifestyle and work with the gastric band not against it. This has left me very deflated that i could not help these people, but i do feel they should of took my advice and be prepared to put the effort in. Has anyone got any fresh ideas or a bit off good advice for me? Many thanks in advance.
