Client says she will be sick with gastric band anasthetic

Hi all I have a client - difficult one - who has been having gastric band hypno. She was very negative to begin with and argued with everything i said, until i said NO, i am not giving you the treatment. she is better now and is starting to lose weight. Its the final stage tomorrow, the actual operation and she said to me that she is always sick after anasthetic. I did explain that was due to medication however, she said that she would be sick this time too. She had convinced herself that she will be. No matter what i say to her, she says she will be sick. HELP, i am not sure how to approach this one. I have had a few ideas but would really appreciate some help.

Hi Maria Your client seems to be responsive to hypnosis so why not incorporate suggestions into your script along the lines of as this is a local anesthetic she will experience calm and comfortable feelings after the procedure and her mind power is directing her stomach to rapidly settle as she concentrates completely on the gastric band that is now in place". I wouldnt actually mention the word sick in case she focuses on that. Good luck with your session.

I am also a nurse and when I have a patient who has experienced nausea in the past during surgery, I have the doctor" add Phenergan to the iv which is an anti-nausea medication. It works every time!
