Hi I trained in hypnotherapy many years ago and stopped practising after I had my first child, who is now 6 nearly 7. I have started up again and practised on several clients - I have hypnotised several smokers who have all stopped and I didnt charge them so I am absolutely confident that it works and I believe in myself again..takes time though haha. My issue is with my son..he is 7 in April and I have tried to hypnotise him for his eating disorders - he used to eat most foods but he nearly choked on a cookie when he was 2 and (I think) since then his subconscious has created issues with his eating - he wont eat anything wet/ vegetables/ in fact he will only eat weetabix, chips, yorkshire puddings, pancakes, fishfingers, bread and chicken nuggets. Faith very kindly organised a script for children eating which I tried last night - the problem is Nathaniel was very interactive with me and I just couldnt tell if he was hypnotised..can anyone give me any advice - I have never hypnotised children before and | really REALLY want to help my son ..any help will be really appreciated Thankyou x

Hi Nicki, Firstly Im sorry to hear the problems youre having with your son, it must be very difficult. I specialise in working with children. I have successfully worked with a number of children and they almost always respond very well. However, I have tried to hypnotise my own son (5) to stop him from repeatedly getting out of bed. It never works. He loves me spending our special" time together. I usually do a cloud induction and get him to imagine his bed is a warm fluffy cloud and he is so comfortable he doesnt want to move. He enjoys it but it doesnt stick. Sadly I think its very difficult for us to hypnotise our own children in the same way as its difficult to work on our own friends or family. I have found with my son that he asks too many questions and wants to discuss everything with me. He doesnt focus in quite the same way my "real" child clients do. I know this isnt what youre looking for, but if you are able to find a collegue perhaps who you trained with who would be happy to see him .... or a supervisor ... I think that might be better. The other alternative if you dont want to do that is to make a recording for him to listen to when hes in bed at night. That way youre not actually in the room with him when hes listening to it and so he wont be so easily distracted. Let me know how you get on. Alexis

Hi Nicki I have 3 children and the youngest was always easy to hypnotize (by me) as a child. The elder two werent though so I guess it depends on the childs personality. You mentioned that Nathaniel is very interactive so perhaps you could use that as a way of helping him. Children dont need to be in hypnosis to accept suggestions but the right condition helps. This is only an idea and might not work but its worth a go. When its bedtime perhaps you could develop a two way story based on another child (or a pet) who has similar eating issues. If you begin the story about the fictional character and ask Nathan to continue it and keep taking it in turns to contribute to the story he might figure out the solution. You might need to work at it over a few days or even weeks (but not every night or hell get bored) and youll need to counter-suggest any objections that he develops in his side of the story. On subsequent nights you can recap together how the story progressed or start again from the beginning to see if Nathaniels thinking has changed (or he might develop further obstacles which you can work through). Hope this makes sense. I could write a brief framework but without knowing what your sons responses would be it probably wouldnt be much use.

Hi, I specialize in dealing with childrens issues. If you are hypnotizing your own child, it is extremely diffcult for the child to deal with his parent trying to give him suggestions. I simply use a flashing pen with different colors, and have the parent in the room with the child and Me. Just relaxing the child works very quickly and as I said, I have dealth with issues from anxiety, sports enhancement, Tricoltilomania (hair pulling), fears of darkness and many more issues. If I can be of any further assistance feel free to contact me at www.rewardyourlifenow.com. Joe Lamberti C.Ht.
