Hello there, I have recently started my own business and wondered whether anyone had any tips and suggestions on how to get referrals from GPs etc in order to get a steady flow of clients. I may be barking completely up the wrong tree with this but you never know until you ask :-) Many thanks in advance Janet

Hi Janet If you log into Hypnotic World and the select the link for Extra Services there is a section called Forms, Questionnaires & Flyers. You should find a template letter there to GPs that you can adapt.

Dont expect much, when I moved to Lincolnshire 4 years ago I wrote to 26 surgeries in Lincolnshire, introducing myself, my website and what I could offer. I got 2 replies, one saying their own gp did hypnosis and one said if I sent them a small poster they would put it up in the waiting room. The other 24 totally ignored my letter.

I also have had no luck with Doctor, Dentist, and professional Medical Service Providers. My advice is to find a need and fill it. I am also a Psychic and specialize in past life regressions. I advertise in the new age papers and it has done quite well for me. I also specialize in working with troubled kids... School Councelers can help in the avenue. I hope this helps , hang in there sometime it takes quite a while but do not quit......Ruth

Thank you all for your advice. I will therefore carry on doing what I have been doing. Its a little dissapointing that GPs dont seem to want to know, after all it would help so many people. Thanks anyway and I wish you all luck in your businesses :-) Janet

I still find it difficult getting referrals from GP surgerys but most are happy to let me leave leaflets etc. I believe the best way is to build up relationships with more friendly practices - get invited to patient participation sessions etc. There are going to be some better opportunities coming up following recent government initiatives for promoting Health & Wellbeing, which in most areas should lead to much closer working between local authorities and NHS commissioners - for example, the NHS public health function is to come under the control of local authorities later this year. I believe there will never be a better opportunity of getting in on the act and getting to where good hypnotherapy should rightly stand. Colleagues may wish to find out what is going on locally to where you live and seeking participation in the statutory required development of their joint Health & Wellbeing Strategy.
