I use Terence Watts Easy Quit Smoking therapy which won an award with the Hypnotherapy Society for being very effective. I have used a number of different therapies but keep coming back to this because it works for the majority and I am so confident in it I give a written guarantee. You can purchase his Easy Quit Smoking Programme through his website Hypnosense. I h

One thing I always find out before they come to my office is what percentage of them wants to quit?" If there answer is anything other than 100% then I tell them not to come and to save their money. This does two things, reinforces your professionalism but also reduces your failure rate, and normally they will call back when they have reached that 100% decision! I always use their own language, I spend 40 minutes talking to them and I gather all the reasons they want to quit and reinforce them in hypnosis. I also use IMRs to make sure there is no resistance. And finally, I always make sure they have decided to quit for themselves and for no one else, or make sure they havent been pushed into quitting. I think a script is a script, so I dont use them. I freestyle with the clients objectives and find this really works for me. Good luck

Hi Fiona, I have written a manual which I give to my smoking cessation clients which not only explains the smoking process, but calls on the expertise of paul mckenna and some NLP to help with the weeks and months that follow an initial induction. I have also come to the conclusion that single session smoking cessation successes are more short lived than using multple sessions and a variety of eclectic methods dependant on your client. For instance, I would pretty insist that a client is still smoking when they come for the first session and almost always start with the right path and teaching self hypnosis. The first session is all about setting the scene, building rapport and a degree of trust. Dependant on what was said during the first session, I would carry out parts therapy to help the client identify the good reason" why they smoke in the first place and I believe that having found that out we can now start working towards cessation. The type of script for the suggestion would depend on the client, hwether they are pliant or dominant, whether kinasthetic or visual whether they have close family ties or are sports lovers, whater ticks their boxes is the correct script and it must include some quite personal references. Everything being equal, YOU are the biggest hurdle for your clients being successful and unless you are fully convinced that your personal strategy will be successful at an unconscious level you will transmit the message that its OK if you fail. If you want an extract from my manual which explains the process drop me a message

with any client who coems to see me for any goal, if they are not getting obvious results within 3 sessions, i move on to doing hypnoanalysis wuith them to determine any hidden agenda, secondary gain or underlying cause for their being stuck. I suggest regression, parts therapy or some other method for finding out what has got your client making only moderate changes. good luck!

Like Lin, I generally use Terrence Watts as a basis, incorporating specific suggestions tailored to the client and have had excellent success with the one session method. Can highly reccomend.
