I have a client that has always had anxiety when she thinks someone has to use the restroom. Shes had the issue most of her life. She is in her 50s and has always been curious why she has these feelings of anxiety. My first thought was maybe her parents made a big issue of going to the restroom when she was a child. She is the youngest sibling of 4. Any ideas? Im not sure how to address this issue.

It may be worth doing timeline regression to see if there is an intial sensitising event, eg if she has a large family and they only had one bathroom in the house was there an incident where she had an accident because she could not get to the bathroom becuase it was occupied and some one else was already waiting or something similar? It may be that her anxiety is related to her concern that if other people need to go to the toilet it may prevent her from getting in there.
