Panic while in a trance

I have had two clients who have gone into a deep state and suddenly panic and have to come out. One saw an image of an old women. She statred to spin and feel dizzy and sick and had to come out. she was terrified about it. The other client saw himsself in a black space with clouds and couldnt follow my instructions or move. He felt completely stuck. for both clients it was related to repressed fear. How can this be avoided and what is the best response if it happens?

Hi Samantha I dont know how many sessions of hypnosis you had with your clients but it sounds as though they could have been experiencing an abreaction. If, as you believe these were related to repressed fear then its important that you retain control over the session. Their experiences during hypnosis may offer vital clues to as to how to proceed with your therapy.

thanks so much for your response. It was in the first session and in the second session it reoccurred but without the depth or panic so there was resolution.
