I have a client who sustained significant trauma injury to his brain 15 mos ago. He continues to experience short term memory problems, sequencing problems and difficulty sustaining mental effort/control (e.g., concentrating, focusing for extended periods and/or in the midst of competing stimuli). Does anyone have any suggestions about the types of strategies that might be most helpful for him? He is very bright and creative and made some apparently significant gains through cognitive rehab, but those treatments are no longer available to him. Other related problem areas include his now marked tendency to doubt himself and his abilities/decisions, increased dependence on others, diminished self-sufficiency/independence (he is not currently able to work)and marked fear of being alone. Thank you for any help or ideas or inspirations or resources you may have!
