First assessment of smoking client

I have used several assessment approaches with first time smoking cessation clients, and Id like to know how other hypnotists assess their clients

Hi Gregg <p>I assess my clients by observing their reactions to questions asked. I figure you need to understand if they want to stop smoking for themselves or if they are doing this because they feel pressurized from someone else. I try to emphasize that it is important that clients are honest with me (otherwise they are wasting their money and my time). If I have serious doubts that they are committed to stopping smoking then I will refuse to treat them.

I think it really hard to be commited 100% in the negining. As much as you want it- it is very scary!

Regarding the last post on this subject - it was not written by me. I find that most (not all, admittedly) clients coming for stopping smoking are very committed once theyve made the decision to quit. Our job is to offer support, encouragement understanding and to help them to rediscover the resources within themselves by using their subconscious mind in a more positive way.

I use the magic pill technique. Just offer them a magic pill that will instantly allow them to never want to smoke again. How quickly or willing they are to take or grab the pill is a sure fire indicator of their level of commitment.

Eric, do you mean in the hypnosis script, you write in that they can take a magic pill when ever they have a craving?
