Bipolar disorder

Have any of you worked with clients having this diagnose? My client has struggled with panic attacks for years, but more and more often she experiences that her moods and her condition veries a lot more. Her doctor has suggested bipolar disporder and she now waits to be checked out for this. In the mean time she would like to try hypnosis - what can you recommend me to do?

Hi Hanne We do have a script for bipolar (under the health heading on the script index page), however I personally would be very cautious in using hypnotherapy to attempt to help a client with this condition. I dont profess much experience with bipolar but understand that the mood swings can be severe enough to drive them to suicide when they are feeling low. After hypnosis most clients feel quite euphoric so when the effects wear off they could go to the other extreme. Why not insist that she waits for the diagnosis. Or, maybe other members disagree with my view? If so please let us know.
