I hypnotized a client who has anxiety, and she did quite well except she complained that when I counted her up her heart began to pound and beat rapidly. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hiya, yes I have had this before with a client her haert rate and blood pressure were higher after the session than before!! However, i dont think its a problem, it could just be the bodys adjustment when the concious mind starts to kick in again? Do you ask her to take a deep breath when counting up this may help!

Spectral analysis of beat-to-beat variability in electrocardiography is a simple, noninvasive method to analyze sympatho-vagal interaction. The electrocardiogram is analyzed by means of an automatic, autoregressive modeling algorithm that provides a quantitative estimate of R-R interval variability by the computation of power spectral density. Two major peaks are recognizable in this specter: a low-frequency peak (LF, -0.1 Hz), related to the overall autonomic activity (ortho+parasympathetic) and a high-frequency peak (HF, -0.25 Hz), representative of the vagal activity. The LF/HF ratio is an index of the sympatho-vagal interaction. This technique was applied, using a computer-assisted electrocardiograph, to 10 healthy volunteers (6 high and 4 low hypnotizable subjects as determined by the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale, Form C) in randomized awake and neutral hypnosis conditions http://www.soberrecovery.com

For what is worth, I always use a biofeedback monitor so that I can identify all the trigger words that made the patient reacts. For one patient who was trying to lose weight each time I said weight" she went up the roof!! For another one who has cancer, the very word "cancer" in the script did that too so the biofeedback monitor is a great tool to have; I can rectify these words to stop the clients stressing more and ensure a more productive session. However, I also agree with Gouri in his comments.
