Introduction to the Hypnosis Course

We offer intensive training in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. Many of our students go on to form their own successful Hypnotherapy practice, confident in their own abilities, to embark on a rewarding and exciting career.

Learning to hypnotize someone doesn't just involve inducing a trance and offering suggestions—there is a wealth of exciting information to be learned and this Course teaches you how to deal competently with anything, from simple habit disorders such as overeating and nail biting, to stress and panic attacks, irrational fears and phobic responses.

The Professional Hypnotherapy Course is suitable for those with no previous knowledge of the subject, though is of equal value to those already in the remedial profession.

The Professional Hypnotherapy Course can lead you to a new and exciting career as a hypnotherapist. The modules contained in this Diploma Course may be purchased individually.

Practical tuition is offered to all students, though you are not required to attend. The examination is free for students who complete the question papers that accompany the first seven modules.  Question papers are returned to provide valuable feedback for you. 

 

Module One

This first module takes you through a brief history of hypnosis and introduces you to the subconscious mind and an understanding of Freud's theory of character formation. You will learn to recognize some of the subtle signs of hypnosis and we take you step by step through a first session of hypnosis. In addition you will gain an understanding as to how the subconscious mind accepts suggestions and how to bypass conscious awareness when communicating in hypnosis. Module Three

Module Three covers in greater detail the process of trance development and how to deepen the hypnotic state.  You will learn how to define the client's problem and how secondary gain can influence the outcome of therapy.  This module covers symptoms of anorexia, bulimia, obesity, helping survivors of child abuse and multiple personality disorder.  You will learn how to use anchors in hypnosis to build up self confidence for your clients and will go step by step through the second session of analysis.

 

Module Four

Module Four covers the use of hypnosis with pain control using glove anesthesia  and other techniques, as well as various disorders that your clients are likely to seek help for.  These include anxiety, arthritis,  children's allergies, depression, drug addiction, fears and phobias, irritable bowel syndrome, ME, obsessive compulsive disorders, skin conditions and sleep disorders, amongst others.  You will learn how to change a client's personal history and the use of hypnosis for child-birthing.

Module Five

Module Five covers memory and learning, photo reading techniques, sport and performance improvement and public speaking.  You will learn about age-progression and regression plus past life regression with hypnosis and other methods such as the Christos Technique.  This module also covers stress management, post traumatic stress disorder, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) and instructions for utilizing self hypnosis.

Module Six

In Module Six you will learn several methods of inducing hypnosis with both adults and children.  You will learn how to create amnesia with your subjects and methods of transferring pain, fractionalization and catalepsy.  Problems likely to arise with children such as hair pulling, nail biting and thumb sucking are covered as well as the silent (pantomime) technique and the Esdaile State.

Module Seven

Module Seven covers the use of hypnosis with dentistry, forensic hypnosis, breast enlargement and infertility.  You will learn precisely how to write and record your hypnosis scripts and promote your own hypnotherapy business.  The legal aspects of hypnotherapy are explained.  This module also covers relationship improvements, NLP and Lüscher Color Testing as well as how do deal with clients with suicidal tendencies.

Module Eight

Module Eight contains all the resources that you will need in your practice, including client assessment forms, how to write press releases and effective advertisements, introductory letters to GPs, instructions for clients wishing to use Autogenic Programming, handouts for clients wishing to stop smoking, details of the quick phobia release and a list of common questions and answers that you may need for clients who come to you for help.  You will also receive the bound Book of Scripts.  Examination papers are also sent with Module Eight.  These can be completed in your own time in order to gain the Diploma in Hypnotherapy.

The material in the Course will prepare you for many of the situations you are likely to encounter during your career as a Hypnotherapist, whether it is helping someone to stop smoking or more complex issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

 

Tutorials

You may wish to take advantage of the personal tuition offered as an optional part of your training. You will be offered an opportunity to hypnotize and be hypnotized under the guidance of your tutor. Further sessions comprise working in small groups or attendance at Hypnotic World International Academy of Hypnotherapy workshops, as you practice different techniques.
 

Course Syllabus

The Hypnotherapy Diploma Course assumes no previous knowledge of hypnotherapy but an interest in psychology is helpful. The Course examines some of the concepts of Freud and Jung as a basis to understanding the personality and its relationship to analytical procedures.

The Course draws upon the works of respected authorities such as Milton Erickson, David Cheek and Ernest Rossi and an understanding of communicating with the subconscious mind through the use of ideomotor signaling is developed to deal with a wide range of psychosomatic problems. An introduction to NLP, language patterns and eye movements is also given consideration.

You will develop an understanding of anxiety states and how resolving unconscious conflicts can help clients to move forward. Pain relief can be achieved through the correct application of hypnosis, as can freedom from addictive behaviour such as smoking, overeating, gambling, etc.

Throughout the Course you will demonstrate an understanding of the modules through papers containing case histories and questions relating to the Course. Whilst it is accepted that there are sometimes no right or wrong answers, you will be encouraged to analyze and prepare a treatment plan for the case histories.

Keeping in contact with other hypnotherapists via emails and telephone conversations is useful for when you begin your own hypnotherapy practice as it helps to exchange ideas, news, and keep up to date with developments in the field of hypnotherapy. Continued professional development is considered an important aspect of this profession and we aim to provide this with our informative workshops and seminars.

The student learns when and how to use suggestion therapy and is taken through a course of analytical therapy in order to see the different stages reached as therapy progresses. Transference and resistance is examined and ways of dealing with these problems, should they arise, will be discussed.

Age regression and the issues surrounding false memory syndrome are given consideration and we take a fascinating look at the belief of past life regression and its relationship to therapy.

Hypnotherapists employ different techniques when hypnotizing children and a special section is devoted to this, with treatment procedures for stammering, enuresis (bed wetting), thumb sucking and other problems explained in detail.

The Course also provides you with all the necessary resources to begin practicing hypnotherapy - including consent forms, press releases, evaluation forms, scripts, glossary of hypnotic terms plus a wealth of advice about starting up and continuing in business—and much more.
